There is a segment I've been wanting to do on my blog to highlight minority media-makers. So, I thought there was no one better to start with than my best friend and biggest inspiration- my Mama! When my mom was 24, she and my dad moved to LA to pursue their dreams of working in the industry. Over the span of eight years, she had the opportunity to work in casting at Dreamworks, Paramount, and Disney Studios. She even had the opportunity to work with Allison Jones (which I am EXTREMELY jealous of).
As my mom tells me stories of her childhood, the parallels between us are uncanny. This would come as a shock to literally no one who's met me, since we are literally the exact same person. There are so many aspects of who I am that are mirror images of her. We share the same passions and I love seeing all of the memorabilia she used to collect when she was my age- just like I do! Aside from admiring her for her successful career, what I admire her for most is her character. I wholeheartedly believe that she was meant to be a mom. She is a nurturer to the depth of her soul, and the ability to rely on her sincerity and contagious joy has made my life fulfilling. Having a built-in best friend is the greatest gift I could've wished for and I know I am making her proud just by being myself. Not only was she meant to be a mom, but she was meant to be my mom. I don't often know where I stand on a higher power, but I do know that her being chosen as my mom was no coincidence. She's my everything. She also has no idea I'm writing this about her and will probably be embarrassed because she doesn't like to brag about herself. But if she won't, someone's got to! So if she's seeing this, hiiiii mom! I love you!
This is soooo nice! you are lucky to have such a special relationship with each other! ❤️
